About Wherry and Albion Cottage.

Can we book Wherry and Albion Cottages together as well as individually?

Each cottage is self-contained and is booked separately.  However for a larger group they can be booked together.

They are not joined internally but share a well-lit covered walkway between the front doors.  This makes them ideal for 2 groups or families wanting close contact.

Do I get a discount for both cottages?

We offer a 10% discount on each cottage when booked together. Each cottage is booked under a separate contract to make it easier if you have to change or cancel one cottage.  In that case the other cottage may lose its discount which will then be added to  it's balance.

How can I check availability and price?

Click the green "view availability calendar" to go to our other website and view our availability calendar and weekly prices.  We offer short breaks of 4 week nights or 3 weekend nights at approx 70% of the weekly price, but if you only want 1 or 2 nights this will be at our short break price as our cost of cleaning, laundry and changeover is a fixed cost whatever the length of your stay. To get a quote click the orange "get quote"  button and give us your dates, or simply ring us and we can email or discuss.

How can I  book?

We are committed to make it as easy as possible to book.  The easiest  way to book is to click on the link in our quote email and to fill in our online booking form.  But we are just as happy for you to phone us and we can even send you a booking form by post.

How can I pay?

Your initial deposit (or full payment if less than 8 weeks) can be by credit /debit card (via PayPal) or PayPal account, both of which give you added protection.  Your balance can be paid by bank transfer or cheque (if at least 2 weeks before Arrival Date ).  Our booking form tells you details for each of these.

Tell me about Arrival and Departure.

Once you've paid the full payment or or balance we will send you a Welcome and Arrival pack giving all you need to know about finding your cottage by every transport means.  You can gain access to the cottage from 4 pm on Arrival day, and leave by 10 am on Departure day.  However you can park in the car park whenever you arrive and use the landscaped gardens to explore the Peninsula Cottages, simply sit outside, start fishing, or walk into the town for shopping or a meal out. Similarly, you do not have to leave the car park or grounds until 4 pm when the next guests take over your keys.

COVID-19. Under the government's new rules our cleaning company require more time to prepare and check the property, and so our current check in time is now 5 pm and exit by 9 am.  If this is difficult for you we advise that you consider leaving the night before. This rule will remain in place as long as the pandemic persists.  You can, of course, remain in the car park and enjoy the amenity of the gardens, and local area throughout your Arrival and Departure day.

What about Access and Disability?

You have your own dedicated parking space in our secure barrier-controlled car park, about  10 to 20 steps from your front door with just 2 x 6" steps onto a flat, level and well-lit covered walkway allowing safe access by day or night.  The cottage is not suitable for wheelchairs as the only toilet is upstairs.  However for the elderly or otherwise unsteady guests we have added additional hand rails to make it possible to hold onto hand-grips on both sides of the stairs for the whole length. Wherry has a step-in bath with electric shower over and hand-grip on wall.  Albion has a walk-in shower.

What about Pets?

Both Wherry and Albion cottage is pet friendly and we allow up to a max of 2 pets (usually dogs) for an additional £30 charge / booking.  Our T&Cs require pets to be kept downstairs and not on furniture.  To protect the wildlife fowl outside pets are required to be kept on a lead, within the Peninsula gardens.

Essential (and legal) Fishing Information

For general information on fishing see our fishing pages.  Fishing is free from outside your cottage and around 100 metres of river front and inner inlets, and into the main Peninsula marina within fishing season (15 June to 15 March).  However you will need a fishing licence (for 2 rods) which can be obtained online (in advance) or at the local Post Office in the convenience store in the pedestrian precinct within a 10 minute walk. Broads Authority rangers and Police regularly patrol the river and any connected inlets to check these.  Most hired day boats do not allow fishing, but you can hire fishing boats.  see below.

Essential (and legal) Boating Information

For general information on boating on the Norfolk Broads see our boating pages (in Preparation).  You do not need a licence to drive any type of boat on the Norfolk Broads. All hire companies give you basic instruction and personal safety equipment. Even children may drive if supervised by an adult.  If you hire a boat it will have a river licence and insurance, but if you bring your own you may need to ensure you have a temporary river licence for the Broads.  Unlike car tax, if you have a river licence for your own area it may not cover the Norfolk Broads.  You may moor any boat at your 45 ft x 12 ft mooring outside your cottage without charge.  You can also park a boat trailer by prior arrangement. Be aware that you may not be allowed to fish from most hired day boats.  You can hire fishing boats for less.  If you bring your own boat you can launch it for about £5 yourself from a local slipway.  Ask us for details.
