Your Holiday experience starts here

You could easily spend your holiday enjoying watching the world go by from the cottage and its landscaped gardens. However, Wroxham offers so much more to the visiting holiday maker. Within a few minutes walk from the cottage you are amongst a bustling shopping community, including the famous “Roy’s of Wroxham” (the acclaimed largest village supermarket in the world), and offered a huge choice of riverside restaurants and bars, and take-away options.

There are many boatyards offering day or picnic boats for hire or sale, and two marine shops for the boating enthusiast.  For the angler there is also an angling store for bait and tackle.

The pretty village of Horning is only 1½ miles away, with two good riverside pubs / restaurants.

Wroxham is the starting point for steam train excursions along 18 miles of the Bure Valley Steam Railway to Aylsham where you can stop off at a steam museum. You are also at the centre of the region for visiting the City of Norwich (6 miles to the Park & Ride) for serious shopping, castle and museum visiting, and within 20 miles of a long arc of the Norfolk coastline including the major seaside resorts of Great Yarmouth, Lowestoft, Cromer, and Hunstanton. Also, there are the very picturesque more natural places of Sheringham, Blakeney, Wells-next–the-Sea, Cley etc. The Queens holiday residence at Sandringham is open to the public.  Other large estates include Holkham Hall.  Close to home are some museums about the Norfolk Broads.  Well worth a visit.

Inevitably, you are bound to have the urge to
play “Swallows & Amazons” exploring the waterways and nearby large expanses of the open Broads, enjoying picnics with the setting Sun, or the hospitality of the many riverside pubs/restaurants, or possibly do some serious fishing. The Norfolk Broads provides a huge range of walks and nature trails for the nature lover. For the less active holiday maker, take a river trip on one of the river tour cruisers from their starting point right next to the Peninsula Cottage Marina or hire a self drive day boat. Let “Reception” take the work from you to arrange a day boat, (by the hour, half day or day), or hire a day or picnic boat for your whole stay and keep it on your free mooring..
