Upon booking in at Reception, there is an opportunity to ask for any additional items
such as towels, high chairs, cots etc. Before being shown to the cottage.
All of the Peninsula Cottages have names as well as numbers. This cottage, No: 25
is known as Wherry, named after a certain type of boat which once plied the rivers.
There are still one or two around, and they can often be seen in the Wroxham Broad
area. A model of one sits in the living room. For more information look on the
Norfolk Broads section of this site.
The front door opens into a spacious entrance hallway large enough to store any fishing
tackle, and muddy or wet items from fishing / boating activities. This entrance
hall opens into the main living room, with three piece suite for four people, occasional
tables and table-top lamp and new 32” widescreen HD TV and PVR. There is an electric
wall convector heater, and an electric radiant bar fire, great for cosying up to
in winter breaks. The living room opens out through French doors onto the private,
covered, raised patio / terrace, with 4 outdoor garden chairs. This then steps down
into the extensive, shared communal landscaped gardens, with your own moorings right
outside the doors. Around the corner on the river side of the cottage there are
no immediate neighbours and a window looks directly across the river, so the garden
is virtually private at this point. See the Outside page in this section.
The downstairs is open-plan into the dining area with new breakfast-bar type table
and 4 chairs. This opens into the kitchen area that has been completely refurbished
and includes newly fitted kitchen units, stainless steel sink unit, full size cooker,
microwave oven, toaster, and fridge with icebox. There is a full range of cooking
utensils, crockery, cutlery and various drinks glasses for 4 people. The kitchen
window overlooks the river and Wroxham Bridge.
Upstairs, the landing opens into the newly refurbished bathroom, with white bathroom
suite comprising, low-level w.c., pedestal sink with mirror and shaver point over,
and full length bath with electric shower unit over.
The main (larger) bedroom is the double room. This has been completely refurbished
with new solid pine bedroom furniture and bed. This room offers views both along
and across the river from 2 windows, and has two bedside cabinets with individual
bedside lamps, drawer unit, and large walk-in wardrobe. This room is very spacious,
and has an electric convector wall heater. New for 2009, there is a heated towel
rail, clothes airer, and fold up plastic bathroom table and chair.
The twin room offers views both across the river and of Wroxham Bridge, and consists
of two full size single beds, and bedside lamp, dressing table and stool, drawers,
and built in wardrobe. Heating is by electric convector wall heaters throughout.
